Lower end is the load cell that extends up into the body of the hardness tester and houses a centreless ground precision spring which preloads the hardened steel indenter
Direct reading analog dial is accurate to ±1.5 points
The total force required to move the indenter through its full travel of 0.025" (6.35 mm) is 85 lbs. (38.56 kg)
